How Do You Know When You Need Solar Maintenance?

Are your solar panels operating at the level they should be? When’s the last time you performed routine solar panel maintenance? If there’s an issue with their functionality, you need to address it as soon as possible.

Solar Panel Upkeep: What You Need to Know

Every project is different. From the size of your specific solar structure to how much energy it needs to generate for your space to function at a normal level, there are a number of differentiators that separate each solar solution we install. But even keeping those unique factors in mind, every single system has one thing in common: the need for consistent, comprehensive maintenance. Your solar reliability depends on it, both in terms of improving performance and increasing its lifespan.

In this blog, we’ll talk about solar maintenance pros (you’d be hard-pressed to find any cons with diligently maintaining your system) and how O3 Energy can be the resource you need for all things solar.

What Are the Benefits of Solar Maintenance?

When you choose to install a solar structure for your space, you’re likely doing so with a few expectations in mind:

  • It will yield quick, predictable ROI.
  • It will provide enough energy for your facility.
  • It will keep monthly utility costs lower than conventional energy solutions.

Those are all reasonable expectations to have with your solar system. But any issue with the structure itself can quickly compromise how easy it is to achieve any of the above. And letting any such issue linger long term could easily negate the impact of installing the system in the first place. That’s why routine maintenance is so important. It’s all about protecting your investment. If you want your solar panels to be a reliable source of energy for decades to come, you need to do what you can to prevent physical damage.

There are several advantages to performing routine maintenance with a high-quality solar contractor, including:

  • Optimal levels of performance for your solar system
  • Increased average lifespan of your solar panels
  • Lower chance of costly, time-consuming repairs
  • Improved energy harnessing for your solar panels
  • And so many more

You may not think that in-depth solar maintenance is necessary right now, even if your structure is performing at a slightly lower level than normal. But that negligence is where so many facility owners run into trouble.

Why You Need an O&M Solar Power Plant by Your Side

How can our solar operations and maintenance (O&M) team help you avoid expensive, unnecessary repairs? It all starts by developing an in-depth checklist for your unique facility. We recognize that there’s no such thing as a one-size-fits-all solution for your solar system. That’s why we specifically cater our services to fit your needs. With our diverse suite of O&M solutions, you’re guaranteed to find options that keep your structure running smoothly. Our services include:

  • PV system inspections
  • Annual panel cleanings
  • Performance analysis
  • Preventative maintenance
  • PV system monitoring
  • Electrical testing
  • Warranty enforcement

All of these options can be customized for your space, leaving you with a solar maintenance plan that’s tailored to accommodate the solar system you rely on every day.

Everything You Need, All With One Solar Contractor

The more familiar your contractor is with your solar panel, the easier it is for them to perform routine maintenance. That’s what sets our team apart from the competition—we offer every solar solution you need, from installation all the way to ongoing support, to make sure your structure is always functioning at the right level. We do so much more than simply install your solar panels and call it a day; we’re here to be your partner, every single step of the way. We’re always looking for new ways to help make your life easier, whether it’s through accommodating your schedule for routine maintenance or helping you acquire funding for your solar project.

If you’re ready to see the difference that an experienced solar contractor can make, it’s time to start your collaboration with O3 Energy. For more information, reach out to our team today and schedule a consultation.

What Is a Commercial Solar Facility?

How many different ways can solar energy be applied? From residential buildings such as homes and apartment complexes to full-scale power plants and other commercial facilities, solar can power most spaces effectively. But what is a solar power plant, and how does solar O&M play a part in keeping things moving? We’re here to explain.

O&M, Solar Power Plants and Minimizing Costs: What You Need to Know

At O3 Energy, our solar maintenance services have one primary goal: to help your system run as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible. And for solar power plants, that service is crucial—no matter what kind of plant you operate, there are so many moving parts to keep track of that you don’t need the extra burden of costly maintenance. But does a solar power plant work? How much effort has to go into operations and maintenance (O&M)? In this blog, we’ll discuss what exactly a solar plant does, how much time you should be spending on ongoing maintenance, and other ways O3 Energy’s solar services can help you live life more efficiently than ever.

How Does a Solar Power Plant Work?

To best understand a solar power plant, we have to go over the different types of plants that are used around the world.

Photovoltaics

Photovoltaic power plants use large concentrations of photovoltaic (PV) cells to convert sunlight into electricity that’s immediately ready for use. If you have a solar system on the roof of your room, there’s a strong chance it’s constructed with PV panels. They typically generate DC current with voltages up to 1500 volts and are often directly connected to an external power grid.

Solar Thermal Power Plants

It’s easy to assume most solar plants are like the PV structures mentioned above. However, solar thermal power plants take a different approach—they focus or collect sunlight to generate steam, which in turn feeds a turbine to generate electricity. There are three distinct types of solar power plants:

  • Parabolic Trough Systems
  • Linear Concentrating Systems
  • Solar Dishes and Engines

Solar Power Towers

Solar power towers use hundreds of thousands of flat, sun-tracking mirrors (otherwise known as heliostats) to concentrate solar energy onto a centralized tower. Similar to how some people (unwisely) use mirrors to direct sunlight on to them while tanning outside, solar power towers are getting more than a nice bronze; they receive 1,500 times as much sunlight as they would if they solely relied on direct sources instead of the heliostats.

Solar Pond

Solar pond power plants rely on pools of saltwater to collect and store thermal energy, using a technique called salinity-gradient technology. The pool essentially traps the thermal energy within the pond, and can use the energy for later (similar to how solar energy is stored in a grid for PV solutions).

We want our clients to become as educated as possible on all things solar. Learn more about how our team can help you maximize energy efficiency with customized solar solutions.

What About O&M?

While each of the above-listed solar power plant methods relies on different technology, two things unite them: They all rely on the sun, and they all need to be maintained by an expert. O&M is a central part of any facility, particularly one that relies on solar power. Why? Because just one fault in your structure can result in massive energy loss and decrease efficiency significantly.

As a premier solar EPC company, O3 Energy proudly helps plants maintain top performance with a diverse range of O&M services. From in-depth assessments and audits to hands-on repairs (all performed in-house by our own team of experts), we’re confident we can deliver precisely what you need to keep your solar plant operating in peak condition year-round.
